The Spotted Lanternfly is on Michigan's Invasive Species watch list. It is a colorful plant hopper with several life stages that can make it hard to identify. Egg masses are particularly hard to identify and easily transported to new areas on outdoor furniture, vehicles, boats and other objects.
Spotted Lanternflies feed on crops & plants by sucking sap. This weakens and damages the plant. It has the potential to devastatingly impact the Michigan grape, hops and logging industries.
If you see adult or immature spotted lanternflies, report them to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development at MDA-Info@michigan.gov or call the MDARD Customer Service Center at 800-292-3939.
