Behind-the-Scenes Tours

See first-hand how we care for thousands of animals with an exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Tour! This tour is a 45-minute trip to our food-prep kitchen, laboratory and the top of the tanks above the aquarium exhibits. Available for all age groups. Minimum of 10 people per tour.

Discounted Teacher Membership

Teachers can receive a membership to SEA LIFE Minnesota for $20 plus tax (a $49 value). To receive the offer you will need to bring in your teacher ID badge or a recent pay stub to our ticket counter. Once you purchase the membership, you will receive unlimited admission for the entire year. Additional members can be added to the membership for $30.

Field Trip Preparation Guide

Homeschool Week - Coming Spring 2020!

Join us for Homeschool Week this fall and step beneath the waves to get closer than ever to the wonderful, weird and wacky creatures of the world's oceans!


Homeschoolers receive discounted admission plus exclusive learning stations and additional discounts on Behind-the-Scenes tours and All-Access packages!

  • General Admission
    • $7.00+tax per person | 10:00am - 7:00pm
  • All Access
    • $12+tax per person | Tours every half hour from 10:30am - 1:30pm and every hour from 2pm - 5pm.

Learning Stations

Come and go as you please and take part in interactive learning stations geared towards a variety of ages from Elementary School to High School. Network with other families from the homeschool community, while learning about marine life and science.

Behind-the-Scenes Tours

This ultimate learning experience includes a 45-minute guided Behind-the-Scenes tour that will take you up on deck above our tunnel system where you can see animals that are currently off-exhibit. You will then explore our Laboratory to find out how we treat and maintain the 1.3 million gallons of water that make up the aquarium. Finally, your tour guide will take you into our Food Prep Kitchen to see what we feed our thousands of creatures in order to keep them healthy and strong.

Who Can Attend?

Your group may include any family member, including grandparents. Guests will not need a reporting form but must be in the accompaniment of and paid for with, a homeschool family. Tax-exempt groups must bring a copy of your Tax Exempt Form with you to the aquarium at which time the tax will be removed from your transaction.

Accepted forms of Homeschool identification include:

  • A membership card from ECHO-MN, MHA, MACHE or other homeschool group
  • A copy of your "Letter of Intent to Continue Homeschooling"
  • A copy of your "Initial Report to Superintendent"

Field Trip Policies

  • Minimum requirement of at least 10 students for discounted field trip rates and educational programming.
  • SEA LIFE recommends one adult for every 5 students. Chaperones may be limited due to classroom size.
  • Field trips must be reserved at least 2 weeks in advance. Final number attending the visit and payment in full due 2 weeks prior to visit date. Once paid for, field trips are non-refundable.
  • Discounted pricing not available at the door. All reservations must be made in advance.
  • All buses and shuttles are required by the Mall of America Security Team to drop off and pick up students at the North Entrance. Detailed instructions will be provide by the Sales Team once your reservation has been made.
  • SEA LIFE does not have eating facilities on-site. If your group plans on eating while visiting Mall of America, you may go to either the North or South Food Court both located on the 3rd floor. SEA LIFE can store your lunches onsite if needed.
