Celebrating 30 Years Underwater

SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast (formerly Underwater World) celebrates turning 30 this year! For three decades, SEA LIFE has been a favourite with local families, and those making the easy day trip from Brisbane. Initially, we were known as Underwater World; a wondrous place, holding great memories for generations of Sunshine Coasties. In 2013 we re-branded as SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast, with a new name, and 11 new discovery zones to amaze and entertain. Suddenly, we were connected to more than 40 other SEA LIFE aquariums globally, sharing marine conservation knowledge in a network that stretched across the seven seas. And now, we have big plans for the future, including the arrival of brand new animals at the end of the year!

Not only is 2019 our birthday, but the entire Mooloolaba wharf precinct is turning 30. The first thing you’ll notice is the amazing upgrade. Over the last 12 months, the iconic old pier has undergone a $10 million facelift. The whole precinct looks bright and refreshed, with new shops, boutiques and restaurants, ready to enjoy. You won’t believe how different it looks! If you haven’t been down to The Wharf Mooloolaba in a while, now’s the perfect time to visit.

To entice you, The Wharf Mooloolaba is hosting fantastic Family Fun Days throughout the year. Join in the family-friendly activities – there will be face painting, with professional artists creating beautiful designs. Here’s a great idea – ask the kids to bring a picture of their favourite SEA LIFE marine creature, and let the artists work their magic! There will also be a petting zoo, full of fluffy baby animals, and plenty of fun games. The family can burn off some energy on the jumping castle, or test their strategy skills with Giant Jenga, and Connect 4. Best of all, the activities on The Wharf Mooloolaba are absolutely FREE.
