Feed your ex to a hagfish this Valentine’s Day!

Roses are red, violets are blue, your ex was a slimy jerk, so feed them to a hagfish or two!

As loved up couples exchange roses and kisses on Valentine’s Day this year, we are giving singles burned by passed lovers the chance to release their inner pain by feeding their ex to a hagfish!

Why a hagfish? Because hagfish feed on any scrum lying on the ocean floor and they’ll do it in the most repulsive manner – from the inside out. Just the disgusting way your heartless ex deserves to be consumed! 

Burned flames are invited to name a fish carcass after their slimy ex and then watch on as that fish is chowed down by the aquarium’s hagfish during their daily feed. Each winner will also receive a double pass to SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium to see the notoriously unattractive creatures in person.

For the opportunity to feed your ex to a hagfish, singles need to enter in the form below, provide their ex’s first name (no surnames!) and explain in 25 words or less why they deserve to be fed to a hagfish. Only 10 exes will be fed to the aquarium’s hagfish, so be sure to include as much detail as possible.

All entries will also be required to make a $1 donation to the SEA LIFE Trust which will go towards protecting aquatic animals and their habitats.

The competition closes at 11.59pm AEST on Thursday 11 February 2021. Ten singles with the worst exes will receive a video of their ex being fed to a hagfish on Sunday 14 February 2021. It will also be available to watch on SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium’s Facebook and Instagram pages on Valentine’s Day.

• Entries will be open from 8am Thursday 4 February 2021
• Entries will close 11.59pm AEST on Thursday 11 February 2021
• Merlin Entertainments will select 10 winners. The winners will be notified by Merlin Entertainments on Sunday 14 February with footage of their ‘ex’ being fed to a hagfish
• To enter, participants must tell Merlin Entertainments/SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium in 25 words or less why they deserve to be fed to a hagfish.
• The prize includes: A video of their ex named after a fish and watch it being fed to a hagfish and each winner will also receive a double pass to SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium.
