She's a Gloomy Octopus with a playful nature and a curious mind
Say hello to Fuzz, SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium’s playful and inquisitive Gloomy Octopus. Her scientific name is Octopus tetricus, and this species is also known as the Common Sydney Octopus.
You’ll find Fuzz in our Rocky Shores zone exploring, problem-solving and keeping a close eye on everything happening around her.

Fuzz is one of our most interactive residents, with a personality as impressive as her eight tentacles.
She loves enrichment activities created by her keepers and is always ready to investigate something new. Puzzles are a favourite, giving Fuzz the chance to stretch her skills, use her strength and show off just how resourceful octopuses can be.
Fuzz is seriously strong. During enrichment, she has been known to squeeze jars with such force that the lids pop off!

OCTOPUSES ARE MOLLUSCS
Octopuses belong to a group of animals called cephalopods, which also includes squid and cuttlefish. Unlike many molluscs, octopuses do not have an external shell.
