A Different Kind of Donation

Saving Buddy

It's not unusual for visitors to donate spare change to the Trust Fund as they pass through Kelly Tarlton's SEA LIFE Aquarium; however, the Aquarium recently received a donation of a different kind.

Member of the public, Andy, was out and about in Auckland when he came across a restaurant serving Spider Crab. Not unusual in itself; however, in an attempt to 'out-fresh' its competitors, this particular restaurant had live Spider Crabs tied up and on show in a display tank. Andy, knowing that this crab probably didn't have much to look forward to, made the extremely kind and generous decision to purchase the crab live for a whopping $225 and donate it to Kelly Tarlton's SEA LIFE Aquarium.

The lucky crab has been named Buddy by his rescuer Andy, and has been living in Kelly Tarlton's quarantine area to recuperate. Recently the decision was made to release him into our display tank in Fish Gallery where he's enjoying his new lease on life with our other Spider Crabs.

Come and visit Buddy at SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium, you save at least 10% when you book your tickets online.
