SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast reduces single use plastic waste!

In an effort to reduce our single use plastic waste and inspire the love for the ocean, we have stopped using lids for our single use coffee cups.
Since implementing this, we have saved over 7,000 single use coffee cup lids from entering landfill.
This combined with us using coffee cups that are compostable, we are hoping to further reduce our impact on the community moving forward.
It’s amazing how one small step can have such a huge impact. 7,000 coffee cup lids is huge.
This is just the start of some awesome changes we are working on to make a positive impact on the community around us.
Did You Know…We use Eco-Friendly products in our café.
- Straws - paper instead of plastic
- Napkins - recycled paper
- Plates - biodegradable sugarcane
- Coffee Cups - paper outer & plant based lining
- Cutlery - compostable cellulose (plant fibre)
- Soup Bowls - biodegradable Sugarcane
- Food containers - compostable corn sugar/starch
This includes all of our food packaging.
Some of these products are made from materials that would have otherwise gone to landfill.
As you can see, they look and feel just like plastic, but we guarantee that every item is sourced sustainable and is not harmful to the environment.
