Pitter Patter of Baby Penguin Feet!

  • Friday 10th November 2017

It’s a baby…Penguin! Sea Life Melbourne has today announced the arrival of the first Gentoo Penguin chick of its 2017 breeding season.

Gentoo chick, Tiger, hatched into the world on 25 October, weighing in at 82 grams and is the first chick this season for proud penguin parents, K.T and Mawson. This morning, at a special weigh-in on the ice to monitor the chick’s growth and development, tiny Tiger clocked in at a very healthy weight of 916 grams.

We are extremely excited to welcome the arrival of our first Gentoo chick of the year at SEA LIFE Melbourne. Tiger’s proud and protective Penguin parents are doing an excellent job of caring for the cute chick who is already growing up quickly - as we’ve seen from today’s successful check-up!. Tiger’s arrival marks seven consecutive Gentoo penguin breeding seasons at SEA LIFE Melbourne – and with the current season in full flight, the pitter patter of more little penguin feet is expected in the coming weeks.
