Jellyfish Seas

Be enchanted by beautiful moon Jellyfish in our interactive colour-changing tank. Simply choose a colour and see these unique creatures from a new perspective as they float gracefully and mysteriously around the tank. Did you know that Jellyfish don't have brains, stomachs, blood, heart or eyes? We even have frilled upside down jellyfish who have their tentacles going upwards!

Coral Reef

Welcome to the kaleidoscope of colour, our Coral Reef is bustling with activity! These cities of the sea are teeming with fish which come in every shape, colour and pattern you can imagine. This is where you'll find cute clownfish hiding in the tentacles of sea anemones and watch out for the prickly sea urchins!

All of our Clownfish are bred at SEA LIFE

The napoleon wrasse can instantly be recognized by its size, colour and shape. It is one of the largest reef fishes in the world. They can grow up to 230 cm and weigh 190 kg.

Seahorse Nursery

Seahorses may sound like mythical creatures but you can see just how real and amazing they are! See the seahorses grip at seagrass with their curly tails and suck up tiny shrimp with their straw-like snouts; if you're lucky you may even hear their unique "finger clicking" sounds as they feed.

Male seahorses are the only male animals to give birth!

Breed Rescue Protect

Conservation is at the heart of what we do at SEA LIFE Manchester. There are plenty of opportunities to learn about the threats facing marine life and what you can do to help as you explore with us. In this area you find find out more about what SEA LIFE and the SEA LIFE Trust are doing to help threatened marine life and perhaps help us out yourself by signing one of our petitions or picking up a free sustainable seafood guide.

Around 75% (that's three quarters) of the world’s coral reefs are threatened by human activity.
